PA EX 501 Strategic Leadership I (5)
Explores public leadership at personal and institutional level. Examines institutional leadership in organizations, teams, and communities as well as personal leadership development.

PA EX 502 Organizational Leadership I (2-6, max. 6)
Examines essential concepts and skills to lead and manage organizations in public service.

PA EX 503 Policy Leadership I (2-6, max. 6)
Examines settings and processes for making public policies through fields of politics, economics, communications, policy studies, and related disciplines. Introduces core principles and tools of economic and behavioral analysis.

PA EX 504 Policy Leadership II (4)
Introduces concepts, theories, frameworks, and practice to conduct policy analysis and communicate assessments to intended audiences.

PA EX 505 Organizational Leadership II (4)
Introduces concepts and skills to assess and redesign implementation of public policies and programs. Examines use of participatory tools for analyzing and redesigning services, work flows, and delivery systems.

PA EX 506 Policy Leadership III (2-6, max. 6)
Provides concepts and skills to assess and advance a policy proposal's prospects for successful enactment and implementation. Examines legislative relations, budget processes, policy field analysis, and negotiations to practice tools for understanding and increasing the viability of policy recommendations.

PA EX 507 Organizational Leadership III (2-6, max. 6)
Provides concepts and skills to measure, evaluate, and improve the performance of policies, programs, and organizations. Considers public value through the lenses of performance management and equity.

PA EX 508 Strategic Leadership II (2)
Focuses on crafting strategies to leading change as well as building changes into organizational culture.

PA EX 509 Leading Across Boundaries (3)
Examines the modern challenges of leading across complex networks of institutions and stakeholders, examining institutional, national, sectoral, and cultural boundaries. Examines these challenges in the context of globalization and the emergence of multi-sectoral and multi-cultural networks of governance.

PA EX 510 Strategic Negotiations (4)
Explores a theoretical framework for negotiations with an equal emphasis on developing negotiation skills through role-plays. Focuses on techniques and nuances of negotiation that are most useful for a manager working in a complex, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.

PA EX 511 Strategic Communication (3)
Focuses on effective communication, highlighting the advocacy and motivation facet of leadership. In order to understand elements of persuasive communication, emphasizes concepts of negotiation analysis; power and dependence, perceptions of conflict, and finding mutual gains.

PA EX 512 Strategic Policy-Making (4)
Examines how managers can expertly function at the intersection of politics, policy, and the wishes of the public.

PA EX 513 Leading for a Legacy (3)
Explores the nature of human culture and values and how they relate to human legacy by impacting the quality of humans in an organization and how legacy grows from the values of the trusteeship and stewardship.

Provides opportunity and structure for students to engage in reflection on leadership growth.

Provides opportunity and structure for student reflection on racial equity and equity literacy.
